Four unique friction areas are built into every Equal-i-zer hitch. Steel-on-steel friction – the same friction a locomotive uses to pull thousands of pounds of rail cars – acts to continually resist your trailer’s attempts to sway. This gives you a comfortable and stress-free ride during normal travel, and an added measure of safety when faced with hazards like passing semi-trucks, gusts of wind, or evasive maneuvers.
Ease of Use
The Equal-i-zer hitch is simple and easy to use. Hitching and unhitching are conveniently done from any angle, and adjustments are simple. It can be installed on almost any tow vehicle and trailer combination – RV, boat, horse, and cargo trailers. It is one of the few sway control and weight distribution hitches that work with surge brakes, and will work on V-nose trailers where other weight distribution hitches won’t.
Weight Distribution
Have you ever driven by a vehicle towing a trailer and noticed the trailer tongue or back of the tow vehicle sagging? Without weight distribution, the trailer’s tongue weight added to the tow vehicle can cause it to “teeter-totter” over the rear axle which lifts the weight off the front wheels. This can cause a serious loss of steering and braking control, and can also contribute to a setup that is more likely to sway.
The Equal-i-zer hitch’s weight-distributing design effectively transfers trailer tongue weight to all the axles and helps keep the front of the tow vehicle firmly on the road.

The hitch works great. greatly reduces sway. feel much more comfortable towing. Can't compare to other equalizer hitches. The instructions are not too good. there is a video from the Equal-I-Zer website that is helpful.. Also don't torque until the very end. Place hitch, tighten. Place equalizer and tighten. Attach, then measure truck. Then adjust. Before torquing, measure trailer and make sure it is level as well. adjust hight of the ball, and remeasure until perfect. Then torque...

This hitch lives up to all the hype.I towed with the traditional bar/chain set up with friction sway for 12 years. This last soring (2024)we sold or camper and and bought a new one and decided it was time to upgrade my towing game as well.I really wish I would’ve bought one sooner. I’ve been eyeing them for a few years.Hooking up is so much easier, especially since there is no need for a separate sway control. One less step in the process. Hitch is very quiet if you follow their guidelines and grease in the proper locations. IAre there better way more expensive hitches out there? Yes.Are they overkill for the weekend warrior such as myself? Yes.The Equalizer checks all the boxes.

This is my third Equilizer to go along with my third travel trailer (had a 12/12K, 14/14K and then this one, a 16/16K). Had nothing but great experiences with the equilizer brand. Liked this one because it came with the shank and the ball already installed and didn’t have to go to a shop to get it torqued (saved time and money). Now, these hitches will make a little noise, have to, friction is how it works. Keep the hitch head torqued, clean it and lube it and she will work for years.

I feel safe with the equal i zer. I have two other sets, 10,000 and this last one 12,000. This is the best sway control system on the market and well worth the money! Customer service is exceptional also!
