So, I somehow ended up cat-sitting my mom’s cat for a couple of weeks. On the second day, I was greeted by a pile of cat vomit - she had bolted her food so fast it all came back up. Yuck! So, after cleaning up, I went on Amazon to see if there could be a solution, and found this bowl/stand combination. Ordered it, and thanks to Prime, got it the next day.Bowl and stand were pretty much what I expected - inexpensive machine-made ceramic, stand was simple 5/16” bamboo sheets. The bowl was nicely finished, with no sharp protrusions or chips in the glaze. One problem was that the stand was a bit uneven, which caused the bowl to rock while the cat ate. I ended up trimming the stand until the bowl stopped rocking.Washed it, put the stand together, and fed the cat. Cat had no problem adjusting to the slow-feeder bowl or to the new bowl height. The obstacles in the bowl didn’t seem to slow her down all that much - she still finished her meal fairly quickly, and was able to clean her bowl of every speck of food.However, she didn’t get sick again for the remainder of my time cat-sitting, and my Mom says that she hasn’t thrown up in the month-and-a-half since then. Which is amazing since bolting her food and getting sick was a regular thing for this cat. So, either the slow-feeder obstacles or the stand are doing their job!Anyway, not having to clean up cat puke more than made this bowl/stand worth the cost. And, if you add in the entertainment value of watching the cat fish her dried treats out of the bowl with her paw (always the left paw!), it was more than worth buying!

My kitten, almost 5 months old is around 5lbs and she got really big within the past 2 months. She is on kitten kibbles and when she was a little on the smaller side, she was chewing each kibble, taking a very long time to eat. At one point, she suddenly began swallowing the kibbles whole (which is apparently normal for cats [I'm a dog parent]) and began vomiting after eating too quickly. We swapped to canned food but the results were the same and she kept puking. As both my girlfriend and I leave the house for work, we had to find a slow feeder and I just chose this one cause it was cute and was elevated. It honestly looks like the gaps to eat from are too big and my kitten's eating time doesn't seem to be much longer but it definitely helped. The bowl is very shallow but the protrusions of the fish shapes inside the bowl is very large so I'm assuming that helps with keeping her bites to a moderation. Ever since I introduced the bowl, she stopped chowing half of her food in one sitting but takes multiple sittings to finish throughout the day. I have yet to come home to a vomit mess ever since so this definitely helped.

I love that the little raised fish are smooth and the molding indents in the back make it easy to hold on to while washing. Cute and does a great job slowing down our faster eater.

One of my three cats bolts his food and has a sensitive tummy, so this bowl has been helpful. Being raised AND having the raised pattern in the bottom has forced Dakota to slow down. Now he is vomiting less. We've only been using it for a week, but so far so good.
