This was a good science finger printing kit, it came with everything you needed, & detailed directions was good quality, it for sure required a parents help but was a great learning experience and the finger mold was cool.

Nicely packaged, giftable kit for a kid who enjoys detective stories (and who has parents who are happy to help out a bit). The packaging says this is for ages 13 and above, but I expect that's because of the chemicals inside. I don't think it'd be that interesting for the teenage crowd.

I got this for my eight year old so she can pretend to be a detective and learn about fingerprinting and solving problems. It comes with everything you’ll need for the experiment in a nice metal container. It has a lot of good information about fingerprints and how different people have certain patterns. The stamp pad is very small and the paper to print comes with only one copy. I wish it came with more but the kit just keeps it very minimal for one experiment for one person. I’m not sure how economical it is for big families who have more than one kid wanting to join.I think it looks nice and would be a nice gift for a child’s birthday.

This could be my fault for not reading the description more carefully but I didn't realize that every single experiment was a different way of seeing finger prints. The kit comes with a manual that has directions for each experiment and some information pertaining to the scientific reasoning behind the different experiments. I thought the directions were fairly easy to follow and the scientific information was interesting even for my 7 year old. All of the material and tools for the experiments are included in the kit which is nice. The first experiment we tried was the one where we used a black ink pad to create prints on paper. Unfortunately, it was really difficult for my kids to identify the swirl patterns of their finger prints. We tried different methods including pressing their fingers lightly, pressing harder, and rolling their fingers onto the paper instead of pushing straight down. But nothing seemed to help and all of their prints just looked like black smudges. The next and final experiment we tried was the one where we used adhesive tape to identify our finger prints. My kids could kind of see their prints but it wasn't overly exciting. At this point no one wanted to continue with the other experiments and I couldn't blame them since I was also fed up. Even though this specific kit didn't work for us, I would still be willing to try one of the other science kits that this company makes.

This is one of the better kits I've seen in this price range, and believe me, we've been through a lot. Our sons receive at least one kit like this a year, either at Christmas or at birthdays, so they're very familiar with what works and what doesn't. Honestly, everything worked out very well and it was easy to follow the instructions. My 14-year-old was not really interested in it, but my 11-year-old worked his way through the experiments and was able to do them independently. Honestly, kids as young as 6 could do these experiments, if they have a parent to help and if they can listen and follow directions.

This is a cool kit for any child that likes to do detective work and solve problems. You will need a mask and eyewear due to the chemicals. It says for 13 and up and i am assuming it is due to the chemicals that are used but I don't really see that age group having that much interest. My 10-year-old liked it and was something he could mostly do on his own with very little help from me.

Great experiments, had lots of fun with it. The instructions were clear, and easy to follow. The kit does mention that you need a mask and eyewear, so keep that in mind when you’re doing the experiments.
