Used weed trimmers all my life and I've never had a brand run through the string this much. Frustrating. I want to stay away from gas, but this is ridiculous. The green stuff was crap and ran out way more quickly than this stuff. EGO Power says that the tool is set up correctly and that I'm using it right... but it advances SOOOO much, it's like buying the XBox for nothing and then getting reamed on the software. It's good... and works fine... but the cost is misleading.

My husband came in raving about this string after the first use! He was rambling on and on about how easy it was to use, and how well it worked, and how he wants to use this from now on. I give it 5 stars for the quality, durability and ease of use and for keeping the hubby from complaining!

I have been using a thicker more rigid line, which tends to break off where it exits the strimmer head if you do not remember to let more line out more often. This line being thinner is more flexible and doesn't seem to suffer that way. You may have to advance the line a bit more frequently but that is a small price to pay to avoid frequent stops to reload the line back into the head.

Please do not buy the version that comes pre-spooled onto an EGO spool as it is much more expensive and you get a fraction of the amount as string. It is extremely easy to learn to load your own string onto your existing spool. The gauge is 2.4 mm so it is pretty durable for typical usage in the back yard. 50 meters will last years.
