The product is quite nice. High quality manufacturing. Works great. Maybe even better than Klein because the cutting edges seem to create a cleaning entrance and exit to the hole being drilled. It lost one start because the product description was missing the detail of this being only the drill head and that the shafts needed to be ordered separately. Additionally, it wasn’t clear which drill shafts would fit the drill head. This was also true on the Eagle’s website. They should make this really clear.

Like other review mentioned, this drill bit get dull quickly. I only used it to drill one hole for speaker wire installation. Drilled in drywall, about 1.5 inch of 2x6. half way felt harder to make progress. It finished that hole, but finger could feel the drill bit got dull already. Must be made with very soft metal. There is no nail or anything for that that piece of wood. Didnt want to cut open the dry wall for installation, so no other choice. Says made in USA, thought would have better quality than able to do one hole.

This bit doesn't work very well. A regular spade bit works a lot better. Eagle tool needs to make a spade bit work with the switch bit system. The switch bit is a good idea but the bits are sub par.

As others noted, this bit does not stay sharp very long at all, the metal is weak. I ordered it to install speaker wires behind my sheetrock walls. The firring strips in my walls are made of pressure treated wood that appears to be plywood. I was only able to make it through a few holes before the bit became so dull that it was doing more burning than drilling. Fearing I would set my house on fire I abandoned the bit and went back to spade bits. This meant I had to make a lot more holes in my wall to get to the firring, which I now have to patch. I'm very disappointed in the quality of the bit, was hoping that the "made in America" promise was worth something in terms of quality. The companion extensions worked well, but don't appear to be adaptable for other bits besides this one, or others from Eagle Tool. While the premise is good, I'd recommend looking elsewhere for a similar solution to this common problem.

Ordered the drill head along with extension from Eagle Tools. I got a call from Dan moments after the order to verify what I was doing and to make sure I ordered the right equipment. Amazing Customer Service and great product because this drill head easily went though the 2x4. Highly recommend this company!

I have some old knob and tube house wiring I am trying to replace, so this drill bit is to help with stringing new wire through old walls. I also bought the extensions in order to travel longer distances through existing walls. It will take a bit of practice: for my first (horizontal) drilling was through a couple studs, I noticed difficulty going through the second stud. Soon I felt some resistance, like I was drilling into something tight. I checked the closet behind where I was drilling, and saw I had accidentally drilled through the closet wall instead of the stud between the two walls - and my bit was wrapped up into one of my hanging shirts! Oops. However, most drilling will be vertical from now on, so I expect I will get better this this. The bit itself does a great job going through the structural lumber.

I have a business that provides low-voltage installation services.I greatly prefer an interchangeable setup like this over single piece (bit plus shaft design). With the single piece once you end up needing 2-3 bits and 3-4 shafts ($80-110 investment), instead of 8-12 different bit/shaft combos ($300-600 investment).WIth proper technique the bit works well at sticking into the wood and drilling through. With a larger diameter bit like this, you need to go slow, you also need to make sure all the screws in the bit/shafts are very tight. Otherwise you will end up with a bit stuck in wood and/or brakig the switchbit shaft.

Costs way less than the whole bit with the 6' extension. Glad I found it, I have gone through many long drill bits prior to purchasing this.
