I used this to make pierogis for Christmas Eve (filled dumplings for those who don’t know what those are). Now that I have arthritis in my thumbs, pinching them shut by hand is not just time-consuming - it hurts! This little gadget saved me time and pain!

Unusual shape for dumplings. Beautiful dumplings, but the shape does not seal well enough, despite strong compression.

I like Chinese dumplings, but making them can be tedious unless you have family and/or friends who can help with filling and folding. I tested this device, being careful to add the right amount of filling. The completed dumplings looked good — all a uniform size with a decorative seam. They cooked well enough. I can't see how this device would be a time saver. It's just as quick to fold and seal by hand. However, if consistency is what you want — every dumpling looking the same — this device works well. (Still, buy several of these and ask family and/or friends to help with the preparation.)
