These are very easy on the fingers and bright sounding. They are the loosest (low tension) round wounds I've ever tried, but after playing hexcore Lo Riders for so long, they're a pleasant change. You might need to raise your action a little for these because they are more prone to fret-clack than some higher tension strings.

I use these on my Fender Jazz Bass. I like the sound and the feel of the strings, and they last a long time between string changes.

2 years ago I hot-rodded a Fender American Fretless Jazz with new pickups, nut and shielding. After all that work, the tone and playability improved only slightly. I read some good reviews on these strings and decided to see if they would sound better than the Elixers or Rotosounds. Wow what a difference these strings make. My bass has awakened and is ready to roar...or at least purr (the mwah fretless sound). Never had a set of strings make so much of a difference in tone and playability. My bass is now everything I hoped it would be thanks to these wonderful strings.

Bright but warm tone with flexible feel!! Doesn’t feel like your playing super stiff tensioned strings but still work great for slap and pick playing!! Highly recommended especially for players with carpel tunnel or tendinitis!!

DR Sunbeams 40-100 gauge are my favorite string I’ve played over the past 25 years. They have great sound and are light enough to make it easy to get your chops in, and more difficult bass lines, cleanly and effortlessly. The only caveat is that if you’re looking for a low/deep grumbling hardcore sound, these probably aren’t for you. But no strings fit all styles. With sunbeams I just tweak my tone when I need to get a deeper/warmer sound... Whithout having to compromise comfort on faster/funkier genres.

Being DR, these are very high quality strings. They are more mellow than a typical set of hex core strings, but still have a lot of snap to them. It's plenty of high end for most classic rock, blues or country. I felt like the low end was a little blurry, but I think that is probably at least partly because the bass I put them on has a set of SD Quarter Pound Jazz pickups that can be a little wooly. These strings have the smoothest feel of any round wound string I can remember playing on, and I have tried most brands..You would have to get a flat wound or ground round to get any smoother IMO. The tension is pretty balanced. Best strings I've used for under twenty dollars in the last 10 years or so.

I've used these now for a few weeks. They are excellent strings, feel good on the fingers. I know they were expensive but the quality compared to other strings is certainly worth the extra money.
