This piece came in handy when the OEM broke on my way home from work on the inter state. The original was plastic and this one is metal which makes it super Durable.

Bought this to replace the heater core connector on a 2006 Xterra, the OE plastic barb is known to break over time. I installed this as preventative maintenance for my friend, and no sooner did I go to pull the hose clamp holding the original part in place did the 18 year old part shear and crumble in my hands. Very inexpensive preventative maintenance part to ensure more years of reliable service.

This is to repalce plastic made OEM. Good choice to have more relible part than the original one which made from plastic.

My stock heater core inlet connector on my 2005 Xterra was a ticking time bomb just waiting to happen. Replace yours before you end up stranded or overheat/cook your engine. When removing my factory one it crumbled to pieces so very glad I replaced it now. This Dorman inlet is great with one moderate exception: the hose clamp which attaches at the heater core isn’t strong enough in my opinion. Keep your factory one and re-use that instead - it will hold a bit tighter and gives a bit more peace of mind. Otherwise this is a great piece of hardware which should outlive your vehicle.

If you are still running the stock plastic fittings, don't wait - just replace it. It is so much easier to replace these fittings when they are intact. They can and will fail without warning. Dorman's aluminum fittings will give you peace of mind.My only complaint is that I wouldn't use the included pre-loaded hose clamp with the blue plastic trigger clip. It didn't seem to offer a good amount of clamping force. Following the advice of other users, I used a regular worm-gear hose clamp instead. I've had both the inlet and outlet aluminum fittings installed for several months now without any problems.

If you're looking at this part you know the problem you're trying to fix on your Nissan. Quality is excellent. I purchase some band clamp pliers to make my install much easier. Removing the airlock on my cab heating system on my Xterra was not that hard. Find a very, very steep hill, park with radiator up hill, put it in neutral and rev it up a few times. Drive it around a few miles add a little more antifreeze, when engine is cooled off. Repeat the park on steep hill trick and your done. Be sure to put your cab heating system on defrost while you're trying to remove airlock.

1. Cut the old hose off. Take a razor and make a split in the old hose to get it off the metal fitting leading into the cab through the firewall. Don't fuss with the old hose, you don't want to be yanking on the fitting anyway.2. lube the inside of the new hose being installed with some coolant, it'll slide on like butter.3. get yourself a pair of 1/2" hose pliers, and and 45 degree long reach (11") long pliers too for the hose clamps. This will allow you to undo the OEM clamps with ease and move them out of the way.4. reuse the OEM clamps. Many people complained about the Dorman clamps being too loose and I saw one post where the person had a coolant leak after installing because the clamp was so loose. I reused my OEM clamps since they seemed to be in good tight condition. That's it! Super easy.
