DeWALT'S Compact Magnetic Drive Guide puts the smackdown on the two most obnoxious problems associated with driving screws -- wobbling and slipping. Whether you’re building a deck or hanging drywall, this handy little accessory will help you easily hold screws in place for speedy drilling.

As the title implies, the bit is magnetic, so screws won’t fall off. One exceptionally useful feature is a barrel-shaped, self-retracting guide sleeve designed to help users drill without having to touch the screw. Not only does this prevent annoying scratches and scrapes, it also makes it easy to push in long screws. Simply grasp the barrel and put your drill to work. Anyone looking to increase their drilling efficiency will be pleased with DeWalt’s Compact Magnetic Drive Guide. No more wobbling and slipping means no more damaged projects.

if you have a pain in the neck impact driver that does not spin true and always knocking a screw out of alignment then this is what you need.makes any impact (or possibly drill) that doesn't spin true usable again.

I have always been a fan of Dewalt products. Not in this case… this is the second time I have had to return this product. Same thing happened with the first one. The sleeve came off and will not stay in place. If it has the Dewalt name on it then I expect much better results. Disappointed!

This keeps from slipping off the screw and not hurting your fingers

I need a new one for my drill. My first one lasted me about 8 years. This one seems lighter made than the old one but it does work. Only time will tell. But for the price you will not find a better one.

I wish I had this thing years ago. It works really well with long and short screws. Mine actually fell apart and now the sheath falls off the bit holder, but it still gets the job done. I just have to make sure I don't pull it out too far. Definitely a great purchase.

If you have ever used a power drill in the past you know that in most cases you will be holding the drill in one hand, guiding the screw with the other, and trying to lean into what your screwing into all at the same time. With this little tool your screw will remain straight and true and give you more freedom to grasp your drill properly and put some pressure without having to worry about the screw slipping or kicking out. Be aware that if you have some kind of huge screw with a large head it will not fit inside the sleeve, but for standard decking or drywall screws it works great!!!Try it! I don't think it will be a disappointment. Hope you enjoy your purchase!!! God Bless & Be Safe!!!

I have a couple of these, but I keep misplacing them. So I bought a few since they're pretty reasonably priced and very useful. I do love the screw holder/stabilizer as it helps immensely when I can't get my fingers into spaces to keep the screw from falling off the bit.

So I ended up ordering 2 of these because I've got a Dewalt mid grip drill that is reaaally powerful and it makes screwing really hard. (No pun intended.) These both arrived looking good. The metal jacket slides up and down and is held in my a C-clip at the base and i think another on the inside of the cylinder. I used it to drill a few 3 inch screws into some 2x4's last night to test it out. It worked great. The magnet was ok at holding the screw on; adequate, which is good enough to to me. When the screw slipped a few times it stayed contained and quickly went back on to the screw. No more mared up work!! It helped prevent stripping the screws too, though it didn't remove the risk entirely. I still needed to be gentle on the trigger and keep the pressure on the back of the drill. As for some of the bad removes about crap quality or broken C-clips. The quality seems as good as any simple metal device could be. Since the outer cylinder extends a few millimeters paster the inner, that does mean that when you screw something down at high speed, the impact will transfer to the cylinder and the C-clip. Apparently, the clip can pop off or the cylinder actually splits, based on poor reviews. Some solutions to consider to extend the life of this tool is:- You could superglue or use tape(or a mix of both) over the clip (I used painters tape because it is essentially paper and becomes a very hard acrylic compositve when mixed).- To prevent the metal tube splitting at some point, you could either use a dremel cutting disk to cut it shorter about 3-4 mm, or perhaps wrap it in duct tape, or try the superglue+painters tape and wrap it tightly a few times to make it stronger. In short, it really is a simple and helpful device, and there are ways to prevent breaking it. Just use your imagination!
