This bit came rusty and very dull. Basically unusable. Do not be lured by the cheap price from 3rd party seller.

Item received had nicks in the blade, paint on the teeth was worn off so the metal was showing, and the self-feed centre bit was full of gunk (looked like sap). Haven’t used the bit while waiting for the vendor to reply, but even the machining quality does not look like what I would expect from Dewalt. There are clearly small deformities in the casting in the part of the blade that, on all other bits I have, has not been ground down to be flat.

I’m about 160 holes into this project and it’s does fairly well. Only complaint is that the self feeding screw could be a little more aggressive. I do have to push this a little or the screw strips out against the wood.

Works fairly well however, self feed function did not work as well as expected. The self feed screw would strip out and then have no pull. Made it work but took longer than expected.

Disappointed. I was clearly sent a used part. Not happy.

Super aggresive bit. Do a lot of wood working and bought this specifically for a project at work with exterior plywood. Bites into wood and tears through it. Biggest issue was having a drill strong enough to power through the cut. Would have no issue boring through stud grade lumber all day other than holding on. VERY aggresive bit.

This drill bit is insane! Made quick work with a 100 year old 12x12 footer. Important to note you will need a seriously large drill if drilling deep with this bit.

Let me preface this review by saying that I am a self-employed contractor who owns a TON of DeWalt tools and swear by the brand, and that I also own other forstner style bits by both Freud and Irwin. This item had three major flaws:a) The cutting edge (which is usually sharp as a razor) looked like someone had dropped it or banged it on something twice and had two large (3/8" wide) dings, one rounded and one with a squared edge. Due to the inexpensive price, this leads me to believe it may have been a factory second?b) The replaceable bit in the center which guides and feeds the cutter came loose about every third hole it drilled.c) Due to the flaws in the cutting edge (in my opinion) it put so much extra torque and drag on the drill that it burned up the motor on a heavy duty gear-reduced 1/2" DeWalt drill which stated that it was made to run this style of bit, and then sheared a 3/4" drive spindle on a 2 ton drill press (in a factory used to fabricate scaffolding) when allowed to self-feed. It also started splitting my lumber down the middle when the hole was only halfway through (always on the dinged up cutting edge, even after being roughly straightened with a file and honed).Needless to say, this one is on the shelf with NO plans to use it again unless absolutely necessary.I LOVE my DeWalt tools, but DON'T buy this one unless you have a crazy oversized heavy duty machine to run it with!
