These work as well as any other set I've used, but the best thing is the size range it's capable of.The 5" works fine alone (though for small items I wouldn't mind thinner teeth for finer resolution) as does the 10" one, but they have dovetail slots so you can actually combine them into a 15" gauge. Sure, there will be a slight gap where they join, but it's enough to get a good profile, and you can fill in the gap after using just the small one.The levers clamp them tight enough that they haven't shifted on me when tracing contours. What more could you ask for?

What a great idea!Awesome for copying complex cuts and contours for trim and tile work.Just use the too to get the contour and transfer it to the piece you need to cut.Not sure how I ever lived without these.Or why it took me so long to fine them.

This is an easy five star review, these contour guides work, they work great actually and I've had no problems with them at all using them on everything from wood to steel. I'm recreating some very old handbuilt wood and steel mining equipment some of it going back to the 1800s and these contour gauges I've really helped in recreating exact replicas of this old equipment. The contour gauges are not meant to be complicated and these are not, no your depth point slip the gauge on, get your contour lock it in and take it to whatever you're working on whether it be wood, tile, or steel they just work great. My neighbor even asked if he could borrow 1 of the units for his pumpkin carving, yeah I know that's a little out there but his end result was something really cool because he perfectly replicated a Halloween mask that he cut into 3D on the pumpkin.

I am mostly happy with this item. The idea is great and it does what it's supposed to do but the pins are a little flimsy and tend to slip if you don't handle the tool very carefully. That being said I was able to successfully use it to transfer the contour of a pipe and cut a board to fit around it. It just seems like a little more work than it would need to be if everything locked down better.Overall, I'd recommend this for occasional use but for professional work I'd look for a different one.

These have been helpful for installing trim and floorboards. If I need something a longer than 10” they do fit together, although of course there is a gap between the two sets. I like that there’s a metal lever on the side to lock the pins in place. It works well, they don’t budge. Initially I thought the pins were too flexible for curved objects (like going around a support pole on the floor) but if you either hold the sides a little or scootch the red bar up, it helps stop the pins from flexing off to the sides. These would have been really handy back when I had an old house where the angles were never what they were supposed to be. I don’t like to give five stars too often, but these are pretty basic tools and I couldn’t think of a reason to deduct one. That being said, I’m not using these daily for work and my expectations aren’t particularly high.

This is a two pack contour guage. It includes a big one and a smaller one. Each one has a locking lever so that once the device is held up to an area and the contour is achieved it can be locked down and transferred to be able to have the shape traced on a work material. These seem to work fine, to be of good quality and I have every reason to believe they will be useful, especially for doing wood flooring and tile. To be able to accurately measure a door jamb and then transfer that exact measurement should be a real time saver and allow it to look very professional. Also this could be handy in other woodworking applications where things might be a little jagged or curvy. An excellent tool to have around.

This is a tool that I won't need very often, but when it's needed there really isn't anything else that does the same job. It's pretty solidly built and feels like a quality item in my hand. My only complaint is that it would be just a bit better if the contour pins were a bit finer/smaller to improve the accuracy of the result. Imagine the difference between higher and lower video resolutions--smaller pixels give a crisper picture. Overall though, this tool is a welcome addition to my arsenal.

These contour gauges are quite handy to have. They come in a set of 2, 10 inches and 5 inches. I find the smaller one is easiest for me to handle and use because I do a lot of small crafts and wood decorating projects. I used it constantly when I was cutting new trim to replace some that had gotten damaged by my back door. They are pretty solidly constructed of a fairly durable plastic, but I did find that after frequent use, the pins tended to move a bit too freely on occasion and would slide out of position before I could get it placed on the piece to be cut. I started pressing a strip of tape against them on one side to help hold them and this solved the problem. I don't think that's a flaw or defect, I think it's probably to be expected when used so frequently by someone like me who isn't very experienced with woodworking and cutting. I still find them very useful and much easier to use than my old ways of trying to accurately trace odd shapes to cut. I would definitely recommend these for anyone needing help with accuracy when cutting!
