A Drop In anchor is a female (internal) threaded concrete anchor, often installed overhead that runs flush with the surface of concrete or stone. To install a Drop In Anchor in a drilled hole properly, anchor is installed into the hole in the masonry material, the set tool is then placed in the middle of the threaded portion and struck with a hammer to ensure that the anchor has set correctly.

Zinc Plated Steel

All drop in anchors in this selection are made of CR+3 case hardened zinc plated steel. This plating adds corrosion resistance and durability to the anchors.

Installation

Drop in Anchors require a special setting tool for proper installation. The size of the tool is specific to the size of the anchor, and these bundles include both the anchors and matching set tool. After a hole is drilled into the masonry material, the drop in anchor is... well, dropped in (hence the name). The thinner portion of the tool is inserted into the anchor, and the back is struck with a hammer. This causes the anchor to expand, and embed itself into the concrete for a snug fit.

Common Uses

Drop In Masonry anchors have a heavy duty anchoring system, and feature female machined threads. They are commonly used with machine screws, bolts and threaded rod to anchor fixtures to concrete and other masonry materials. Because of its design, drop in anchors are also commonly used on temporary structures. Though the anchor itself is in the concrete for good, the bolt that you are anchoring the fixture with can be removed and reused.
