These are a perfect fit and look exactly like the original. They are very fragile. I have had the rain gauge for a year and I just put the third replacement in. I dropped the first one, the red ball dropped hard and broke the second one, and I think it was hail that broke the third one. I wish I could find one with a little thicker glass but this one is exactly like original.

If your rain gauge tube cracked from below freezing temperatures this winter this is the correct size as a replacement. Fits perfectly in height and diameter. Expensive but from a lesson learned....remove your test tube and store indoors during the winter months!

When I got this gauge ten years ago, I knew one day I would forget and leave the vial on too long in the fall. This was the year I did and the broken pieces greeted me this spring. This is the exact fit for my unit. It is great that Amazon carries so many parts and pieces. They may not always be the cheapest, but they are as reasonably priced as anywhere else and easy to find and order.

I broke the vial to my wonderful Conant Brass rain gauge. I tried to find a replacement at the store where it was purchased - they no longer carried it - and I tried a couple of other similar stores, to no avail. But with a little but of searching on the Conant website (to get the model number), and then Amazon, I found the vial I needed - and bought 2 of them as I know I will drop another at some point. The vials arrived on time, well-protected and are a perfect fit for the rain gauge.
