I purchased this to convert old tapes over to MP3 recordings via the USB function. It worked for the first six or seven recordings. After only a month of use, it would only partially record the tapes. Note: You play the tapes at standard speed and record them over to the USB, so it is a time consuming process. Not a problem since the tapes contained information I wanted to listened to anyways. The last 2-3 times though, the recording (although the USB shows flashing) would only capture about 2-8 minutes of 30 minute recordings. The rest of the recording would just be dead air. I reread the instructions thinking operator error and tried again. Result = same (partial recording when played back). So it appears I received a defective product. I hope the seller reaches out to correct this issue. My return window closed a week before this occurred, so I have owned it for all of a month essentially. Quality appears to be a big issue. I will update my review accordingly, if the seller reaches out. At this point, it was not worth the money paid since it does not serve the purpose for which it was purchased.

I recently moved and found a lot of tapes, and I kept them because of my precious memories. This player retains the technology of the past when there was no Internet access, but the quality is truly excellent. Additionally, it is basically used wired by connecting power, but can also be used wirelessly with four 1.5V C cell batteries. The speaker sound quality is not the best, but it has enough output to play tapes. It also provides a function to easily digitize and save music from cassette tapes using USB. It also has a recording function and a built-in microphone like the classic player, so you can easily record. The radio may vary depending on the region, but in my area, the reception is very good, like listening to it in the car. In fact, I did not expect high quality from this product, but I was very impressed by the good quality and the fact that it provides all the functions of the cassette player that I remember.

I purchased this cassette player/recorder to transfer old cassettes onto digital formats. Most other units on the market require the player to be connected to a computer for the transfer to occur. I thought that was what I'd have to do with this unit.Surprise! This player/recorder has its own USB input port, thus one can transfer cassettes directly onto a USB thumb drive (included with the unit), and then insert that into a computer is desired. Most smart tv's and even some CD players will play directly from thumb drives. Of course, one can insert these thumb drives into a PC or Mac and burn the MP3 formatted music onto CD's, too. While the sound quality is not terrific, I'm thinking the headphone jack would likely allow the contents of the player to connect to better speakers...but keep in mind, I did not buy this unit for sound quality. I bought it solely to transfer cassettes into MP3 format. Once into that format, the sound output will be just fine when played via a more robust system. One other point: this unit can run on direct plug-in power or via batteries, making it portable. So, call me very satisfied.

The ONGTEED Cassette Tape Player Boombox brings back the old school vibe with a simple, yet effective design. It's equipped with all the classic features like AM/FM radio and cassette playback/recording, but also includes modern conveniences like USB digital conversion. The sound from the 6W speaker is decent for casual listening, and the ability to use either AC or battery power adds to its portability. The 16GB USB is a nice touch for immediate digital conversion. It's not the highest quality audio, but it perfectly captures the essence of a bygone era with just enough of an update to make it practical for today's tech-savvy users.

All the features on the player work just fine. It's not the best radio tuner in the world but for the price it gets the job done. I got this specifically to be able to save cassette tapes to digital files though. You should keep in mind this is still largely a manual operation. If you have a lot of tapes to convert there really aren't any shortcuts. Each tape has to play at it's normal speed which means it takes however long the tape is to record it. What I find best about this player/recorder is I can preserve one of a kind tapes available nowhere else that are deteriorating over time. This is especially relevant to my pastor who has many many tapes of various se3rmons from men he has known in the last 50 years. Putting these in digital format for him makes them available with a couple clicks of a mouse button rather then shuffling through boxes of old tapes. It's a slow process but worth the effort for irreplaceable content.
