Definitely don't get these. The cable broke after letting it loose just a couple of times. I couldn't even get it off my bench test area before they both failed. I contacted the manufacturer and she said it was my fault. I didn't mistreat these devices at all and they broke.I tried to take them apart and re-tie the cable but the spring re-assembly was too difficult to get (a) reassembled and (b) still working smoothly. No bueno amigo. Do not buy

This is an interesting 1000mm linear sensor that outputs a 0-5V signal in proportion to position. I applied 24Vdc and found the output signal to be stable within 1mV. The device consumes about 10mA, and that consumption does not appear to change with position. Upon disassembling it as far as possible without causing damage, I discovered that the position sensing is accomplished using a 10-turn 5k ohm potentiometer, which is from a reputable brand, ensuring a long lifespan. The draw wire is wrapped around a pulley attached to the potentiometer shaft. Inside the housing block, there is a clock spring that applies tension to the cable, drawing it back into the housing. Overall, this is a well-made sensor, making it a valuable addition to my parts collection for future projects.
