tap

About Taps

Straight flute design, made of 6542 high speed steel. It is used to process threads of various through holes or shallow blind holes. Can process copper, brass, A3 steel, aluminum, cast iron and other materials.

Generally used in conjunction with tapping machines, integrated bench drills, CNC lathes, machining centers, etc. Manual processing is also possible. When operating, control the speed according to the hardness of the material, the higher the hardness of the processed product, the slower the speed.

Recommended feed rate:

Hard steel: 5-10m/min, cast iron: 8-10m/min, ordinary steel: 6-15m/min.

die

About Dies

Made of alloy tool steel, hardness and wear resistance. Used to repair external threads. When in use, the conical locking hole of the die is aligned with the screw of the wrench and tightened. The conical keyhole has a strong locking force and is not easy to loosen.

Suggest:

Appropriate lubricating oil should be added to the die-cutting edge when cutting, It is to be reversed every 1/4~1/2 turn to facilitate chip discharge from the chip hole.

Tips

  • Please be sure to take protective measures when working, you need to wear goggles and protective gloves.
  • Before tapping confirm whether the diameter of the round hole is appropriate. Be sure to select the appropriate cutting oil for the complex tapping process and apply anti-rust oil for maintenance after use.
  • When tapping, control the speed according to the hardness of the material, it is necessary to add water or coolant to cool down to prevent excessive temperature and reduce tap loss.

Cut perfect threads we only needed for a one time use but the quality is such that it seems like it will last thru several uses.

I haven't used the tap yet but I did use the die and it worked great. I needed to extend the threads of the center shaft of this fishing reel which had M3.5x0.6mm threading:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09WQ4BXZD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1

I like the fact i got it next day. It arrived well packaged. Looks like a quality tool with well cut threads. Would be five stars if I could say it lasts long working as it should.

Clamp handle had slowly worked its way loose, and I didn't realise it until it came off in my hand...with horribly buggered up threads on both handle and fence. Google told me the heandle thread was M8-1.25 (though the rest of the fence is SAE???). Tap cleaned out the socket, die (with a few tries) made the handle thread usable again, and Loctite (not included) made sure it will stay together.Best money I ever spent. Check those rip fence handles, guys...put some Loctite on them before they loosen up, but if they do, here's where you can fix the problem!

I just used the M6 x 1 tap and die to fix my old Hitachi miter saw. I could not determine if the male or female thread was the problem, and ended up having to use both tap and die, so I'm glad I bought both. The repair turned out well. The tap and die are high quality. The tap said HSS, although I have no way to confirm it is actually high speed steel. The die did not say HSS. Both did the job just fine.

I use the tap to machine plastic parts. So works well for that.
