About Taps

Straight flute design, made of 6542 high speed steel. It is used to process threads of various through holes or shallow blind holes. Can process copper, brass, A3 steel, aluminum, cast iron and other materials.

Generally used in conjunction with tapping machines, integrated bench drills, CNC lathes, machining centers, etc. Manual processing is also possible. When operating, control the speed according to the hardness of the material, the higher the hardness of the processed product, the slower the speed.

Recommended feed rate:

Hard steel: 5-10m/min, cast iron: 8-10m/min, ordinary steel: 6-15m/min.

About Dies

Made of alloy tool steel, hardness and wear resistance. Used to repair external threads. When in use, the conical locking hole of the die is aligned with the screw of the wrench and tightened. The conical keyhole has a strong locking force and is not easy to loosen.

Suggest:

Appropriate lubricating oil should be added to the die-cutting edge when cutting, It is to be reversed every 1/4~1/2 turn to facilitate chip discharge from the chip hole.

Tips

  • Please be sure to take protective measures when working, you need to wear goggles and protective gloves.
  • Before tapping confirm whether the diameter of the round hole is appropriate. Be sure to select the appropriate cutting oil for the complex tapping process and apply anti-rust oil for maintenance after use.
  • When tapping, control the speed according to the hardness of the material, it is necessary to add water or coolant to cool down to prevent excessive temperature and reduce tap loss.

Nice quality and worked well on aluminum, I suppose it will work well on mild steel

I dropped an adapter for a rifle suppressor and it dinged the threads pretty bad. This cleaned it up to like new.

The tool is terrific. It does exactly what it needs to do.Amazon, however, sent me an empty envelope at first. Seriously, I opened it in front of the delivery guy. Who sends an empty envelope? Amazon. At least they didn't waste postage - just my time and patience.

I needed this set for a couple of particular home hobbyist jobs. I typically like to spend a little more money for tools that are from a known, reputable brand. In this case I took a shot looking to save a little money, and it paid off.I use Tap Magic for most of my threading jobs, and I did the same with this set. I had no issues cutting clean threads, and also had good luck chasing some boogered threads with the die.I can't say how it would hold up in a production environment, but for me, based on the few uses, it should last a lifetime as long as I don't drop it or let it rust. I have no problem recommending this set.
