BUGANI AI Language Translation EarbudsWell, I finally got them to work! But the problem wasn’t the earbuds; it was me, having to do with my choices in the software. Honestly. So, in this regard, take my word for it: after you pair and setup the earbuds (which is easy; it’s spelled out in the instructions), choose “Free Talk Mode,” and you can thank me later. As for the earbuds themselves, they’re one of the most comfortable I’ve ever worn. And they’re not only made very well, they’re actually elegant looking to boot. Even the packaging is elegant. So my point is they at first come across as being quite the “high end” earbuds. But why then do they not have a high-end price point, but only a mid-range one? Because, unfortunately, they don’t perform like high-end AI earbuds. Now don’t get me wrong. They DO work—they do in fact translate 40 languages (I only tested it on three foreign languages), but they don’t do it in a high-end manner. Allow me to explain.I enlisted the help of my elderly mother-in-law, because she speaks at least four languages fluently: English, Spanish, Portuguese and Tagalog (of the Philippines). The earbuds’ software couldn’t translate Tagalog, so we just experimented with Spanish, Portuguese and English. We started with Spanish, but little did we know when we began talking—and the earbuds began incorrectly translating—that the Spanish being used was Spain’s Spanish language. As soon as I switched it to Mexican Spanish, the earbud’s software started translating my Mother-in-Law’s words pretty accurately. Not perfectly OR completely understandably, mind you, but fairly accurately. But that didn’t turn out to be our greatest frustration. Our biggest frustration had to do with the lag between translated sentences. Let me be clear here: as soon as something is spoken, the earbuds will translate it quickly—but NOT quick enough for continual spoken conversation. In other words, by the time the earbuds had finished translating a sentence or two that my mother-in-law had spoken in Spanish, I had already responded to her in English AND she was beginning to say her next statement in Spanish again! So in this sense the earbud’s software is NOT fast or immediate. It simply can’t keep up with a normal spoken conversation. So I’m afraid the earbuds just don’t live up to the hype. And that’s why, I believe, they’re not priced like high-end AI earbuds. They are, however, a heckuva lot of fun. My mother-in-law and I laughed a lot, discussed the languages, and generally had a lot of fun using the AI translator. And, oh, I should mention that they do operate quite well as regular earbuds for listening to music or talking on your phone. But they simply aren’t ready for the big time yet, meaning they CAN’T yet handle normal conversations in real time. But I’m betting that they will be able to in the not-too-distant future.

I ordered these on a whim. My husband is a slow reader and we have several foreign films to watch. I thought this would be a great way to keep him from needing to pause the movie or ask me what was said. I have been playing around with these a little bit since he is away at the moment. These charge pretty quickly and the qr code makes set up pretty easy. The ear pieces themselves fit nicely over the ear and sit comfortably. There is about a 5-10 second delay from what is being said to the translation coming in. It depends on how clearly people are speaking. I had it translate from movies, youtube monologues and while I was doing my spanish speaking lessons. The price point is good for this "new tech". The ear pieces come in a very nice case which they charge in. I think these will be great for movie watching but also for my husband to take on his business trips.
