I own both the Blue Marvin as well as the "standard" aka Christmas lights" Behringer 2600. I love these synths, they are so much fun, the sound quality is amazing, they truly did an amazing job!!I think these are good for anyone stepping into "module" / analog synths or anyone who loves the sounds of the original Arp 2600.Either way, the Blue Marvin is great! And for an extra $100, you are getting a real spring reverb, that alone is worth it, and I know they upgraded some of the internals, however and honestly, side by side, you will not "hear" the difference sound wise from the "2600" vs "Blue or Grey" versions.Where the "noticeable" difference comes into play, audibly, "THE REVERB".... the spring reverb just has a lingering effect, obviously because the spring is in play! The standard version reverb is also really good, however, compared to the spring, I think the blue Marvin wins what "audible" difference.Either way, you cannot go wrong with these! I do think the extra $100 is worth it, again I have BOTH, so I can safely say no matter which one you choose, you'll enjoy it. I would also say, just drop another $100 if you can and get the beefed up capacitors , filters, and spring reverb (most importantly)!

I've had the 2600 Blue Marvin for less than a week and have been blown away by it. This is a phenomenal semi-modular synth with endless possibilities. It sounds fantastic and also looks absolutely gorgeous. If you are already familiar with subtractive synthesis as well as with the Eurorack/modular world like I am, you'll absolutely have a blast! If you are not, this is a GREAT learning tool which you will enjoy for years to come!
