Get one with a TI chipset if you're trying to use an audio interface. I tried to connect my Digidesign 003 Rack+ and my PC would crash every time. Switched to a Ti chipset card and not only did my computer never crash again but my interface worked with my new Ti chipset card. DID NOT work with this card.

Needed to hook up an old digital video camera to archive the tapes.Installed board, powered up computer, connected Firewire from the camcorder to the card and it was immediately recognized... no hassles or configuration problems (using video capture software.)Great prices and works great!

Plug and play, didn't have to download any drivers for Windows 10. I used WinDV to transfer video from my old DV cam, and now I've finally got my home movies stored digitally.

First off, the smaller bracket is too long to properly install in my slimline computer. You'd either have to have the card not properly seated inorder to screw in the mounting piece, or just have the card loose in the computer.Second, my computer recognized the card, and I was able to sync up my Presonus FireStudio Project audio interface with it. At first, I was super excited, because I didn't get this far with the last card I tried...However, lastly, when attempting to record there was weird interference, popping, and slight drop outs of sound. I guess I'm not positive that it's the card, but it sure seems like it. I used this exact set up with a different computer, and didn't have any of these issues...so it's not the audio interface, or anything else.My experience with this card was bad given that I cannot record with such issues, but maybe it'd work for some other application. I mean, it at least recognized my audio interface, which is saying more than the last card.

This interface card Was originally named IEEE1394 or FireWire (iLink by Sony)because at the year it was born 20 more years ago could provide more speed to transfer video data between any compatible device with FireWire capability. It works better than USB 1.0 or 2.0 at that time. I primarily use this interface card to transfer my old V8 home video footages into computer to save it and preserve it for a long time. This ILink interface card utilizes PCIe 1X slot for the latest ATX m/b while this interface was usually been built on board with m/b 20 years ago. This feature specification has been phased out in the latest model because they got better new usb 3.2. In windows 10 build 21H2 it loads it’s appropriate driver software when plug it into system. I was surprised it still work that way and I think that’s the reason box comes with no any other driver software. I still can use windows movie maker 2010 to capture all my V8 footages into computer for better long term storage. V8 tapes cannot be stored forever after 20 or 30 years there will be no more machine to playback those tapes. Thanks for the iLink interface card to save all my v8 footages into future digital world to preserve nearly forever.

I dug out Hi8 tapes of my family/children from my very old Sony Handycam camcorder. Capture cards I had from the past don't fit new PC's so for chump change I bought this card which didn't immediately work. Can't give you the exact recipe but here's my experience and now it's flawless.Card install was easy, windows 10 recognized it right away but couldn't see my camera. Went here:https://www.studio1productions.com/Articles/Firewire-1.htmAbout 1/3 the way down you get to instructions to install "Legacy Drivers". The site points out that you need a VIA chipset. This card has a VIA chipset.Still didn't work - wouldn't see my camera. Tried tons of software, updates etc, etc. all said "no camera connected" then tried this free program:https://www.videohelp.com/software/HDVSplitStill didn't work, even worse - the program seemed to freeze and glitch my new PC (with a fresh Windows 10 install) by "program is not responding" and then not closing even with "end task" in Task Manager. Had to reboot to shut down the program (HDVSplit).BUT then for no good reason at all... After about 3 failed attempts of running HDVSplit, then waiting, then rebooting, suddenly everything could see my camera. Windows, HDVSplit (in DV mode), Adobe premiere, etc.So in summery, a 20+ year old camera may have trouble talking to a modern PC (like I do trying to listen to Rap music) - but this card does work and apparently it's important that it has a VIA chipset.Hope this helps someone. I nearly gave up to try something 5x the price.Important to add, HDVSplit doesn't freeze up anymore. Maybe I should have just let it sit longer the first time? Maybe it's magic? Who cares, the card is fine, problems were obviously software and for $17 CAD, I can still afford to tip my waitress ;-D
