This little refractometer works great, it is simple and comes with multiple pipettes, a nice case, a microfiber cloth, and the calibration screwdriver. I would definitely get some distilled water and calibrate it before use, I think mine was off by a little bit when it arrived. Definitely skip the super expensive ones, this will last you for a long time if taken care of. It also can be focused in the handle. The pictures in the listing are accurate.

Bought this thinking it would be extremely accurate. Used the 35 ppm calibration fluid to calibrate it, then used distilled water to make sure it was also at zero. Everything checks out. I made a bucket of salt water and brought it up to 35 ppm using this refractometer. I double checked the salinity against a fluval hydrometer and also the Hanna salinity tester and this hydrometer was off by 4 ppm.

Appareil reçu ce jour. Marche parfaitement. J arrive même à l utiliser avec des lunettes de vue, il faut penser à tourner la lentille pour faire la mise au point. Les données ont l air cohérentes pour mon terrarium avec sa partie eau de mer

Really good piece of kit, wondered wether it was worth taking a chance on a “cheap” one, but it does exactly what it says on the tin. Really simple calibration. Recommended

This refractometer works great - it's accurate and extremely easy to use and maintain. The only trick is you need to calibrate it before using it on your fish tank, etc. Calibration is super easy - get a gallon of spring water from the store (mine was a whopping $0.99), and use a few drops of that to ensure that the device is calibrate - it should be reading 0 and 0% on each side, respectively. Once that is done, you can use it to accurately test whatever needs testing. I have compared it with my other salinity gauges for my saltwater aquarium, and this refractometer is consistently accurate while my other gauges are not. I also appreciate that this refractometer comes with a cleaning cloth, three pipettes for water drop collection and application, clear instructions, and a protective case. All in all, this was totally worth the money - I highly recommend this product.

È uno strumento che serve a misurare, monitorare il livello di salinità e di gravità specifica dell’acqua salata nell’acquario marino.È la prima volta che uso questo strumento e devo dire che fin da subito si intuisce la facilità d’utilizzo...Il rifrattometro è costruito in plastica e le rifiniture sono curate bene nei dettagli.ATTENZIONE:Lo strumento arriva già tarato, pertanto vi consiglio di non svitare la vite posta nella parte superiore(la vite è coperta da un tappo in gomma).“Per intenderci lo strumento va usato come usereste un binocolo”; Per provare la giusta taratura del rifrattometro bisogna versare con la pipetta in dotazione qualche goccia di acqua dolce osmosi nella piastra di controllo e orientare verso una fonte di luce, guardate all’interno dall’altro capo del rifrattometro.All’interno si vede una scala graduata che serve a rilevare la salinità e la gravità specifica.Se lo strumento è tarato bene noterete che la linea sarà perfettamente allineata con lo 0 nella scala graduata.CONTENUTO DELLA CONFEZIONE:- 1x rifrattometro salinità- 3x pipetta in plastica- 1x mini cacciavite(serve per tarare lo strumento)- manuale utente (lingua italiana non garantita)- 1x panno per la pulizia.Lo strumento si ripone bene all’interno di una statola in plastica rigida(foto allegate).CONCLUSIONI:Premetto che non ho mai usato rifrattometri di alto livello con costi decisamente superiori!Giudico questo strumento che secondo me visto il prezzo è davvero molto valido.. Works well and is consistent. I can see rust already forming in the hinge after only five months but doesn't appear to be effecting function.

Seems pretty solid. Easy to use. I like that they include a small screwdriver turn the calibration screw. I calibrated it and it's been spot on since. Can't tell you how many glass hydrometers I've broken... now I keep one safe in a box (only use it to confirm calibration once in a while).Only reason I deduct a star in my rating is that the case could be better. It works but seems like it would break or pop open if you dropped it.
