My Polaris is really scooting along now.Pro Tip: Boil a big pot of water and dunk the old connectors and hose in it. This will make the whole operation very easy.

I think the chemicals caused the rotation to stick. The hose began to tie itself in loops.

I thought I'd give the lower priced, off-brand a try; how hard can it be to make a quality hose swivel? Too difficult for ATIE, apparently.I have an automated pool cleaner, and the hose gets tangled so I added a lot of swivels. As they were wearing out, I bought a 3 pack from ATIE. I replaced one in my pool, and then "another one" went out about a week later. Specifically, it stopped swiveling. I thought it was the one I'd just replaced, but that couldn't be right. (There are a bunch in the pool system, I must be confused...?) I noticed that this one failed in the same way a couple of days later; it might have been earlier, but that's when I noticed. This time I was paying attention to which one I swapped out, and I replaced it with the last one in the pack. This one didn't last a full 24 hours. All three swivels failed, lasting from about a week for one, to a few days (at best), to less than a full day for the last one. They are trash. Avoid and pay a few extra buck for the OEM parts.

My Polaris 280 limped along the bottom. Replaced two swivels that were leaking badly and it solved the problem.. works like new and saved from buying a complete rebuild kit. Cheap fix!

Over time your hose swivels will load up with grit and lose their rotatory flexibility; this fixes the problem, 100%. Replacement cycle is maybe once every 5 ~ 7 years. A little work to install, but saves money over replacing the entire pool cleaner hose.

A great value replacement part. The original polaris part was succumbing to age and the effects of the sun. It was cracking at a seam and providing a small geyser of water when the pumps were on. Part swapped in easily, just a handful of minutes. Appears to be working just like the original was when it was new.
