Aquila’s Red Series ukulele strings provide the player at any level a unique, comfortable feel and a strong sound that brings out the best in any instrument. Other manufacturers take the more traditional route by increasing a string’s gauge to reach lower frequencies. That just makes the string less bright, less responsive and more muffled. The thicker is the string, the duller is the sound. Aquila’s revolutionary new approach actually changes the specific weight of the material that makes up each string progressively leaving the gauge unchanged. The results are amazing! Any instrument will immediately sound brighter; and will be more powerful and responsive throughout the entire range of the fretboard. The strings also maintain their intonation better because thicker strings need to be fretted harder, pulling them farther out of tune. Red Series sets provide superior performance for musicians who love clear, sharp sounds and powerful voicing across the full scale of the instrument.

I've been using Aquila Red Strings on my Ukuleles for years. The Low G really makes a huge difference in the tone of the instrument and these strings FAR outperform any other strings I have tried. The consistent gauge of the strings feels better on your hands both in picking and strumming and the quality is great! I am just about to purchase my 3rd set of strings on my Luna Concert Uke. The last set has been on there for over 3 years and I just now broke the A string. These strings hold tune very well once they are broken in and the only time I find the instrument out of tune is if I have large changes in room temperature.

I will never use anything else for my concert Uke. Best sound i’ll ever get from it using these. Oddly enough felt like i was drawn to them when i was looking for new strings one day. Then i was doing my family tree and discovered i was VERY distantly related to the companies founder. Last name wasn’t even the same variation it was so far back but still was blood.

I love the sound and I've purchased Aquila Reds previously. Unfortunately, this time around, they didn't arrive as described by Amazon. At first, I assumed that the strings would ship in a separate order. Two weeks later, when I checked back with Amazon to see when the strings would arrive, I see that Amazon thinks the strings were delivered Sept 29. I really need string replacement so I will try again but you can rest assured, I will be checking my mail and purchase orders more closely and calling back sooner if this happens again.

I am happy with the strings and the sounds they produce on my concert resonator. My only disappointment is that, having done some research ,the low g is wound and not like the other three strings!!!

Strings for any instrument are subjective and may sound great on one instrument but not another. That being said. Im happy with the product i purchased. The Aquila red strings can be brittle and i have broken an A string on another set ive used. So those rumors are something that happens. But this Low G model went on my KoAloha with no issues and sound fantastic. The feel of the red coating is different that polygut or flouro strings. Not worse or better. Just different. They are unique in there approach to Uke strings. I recommend trying them. My recommendation on installing the strings would be not to tune fully first shot and to bring the A string up incrementally and let it settle a bit before going to full tune. One of the things i like besides the color is the tension. They have a stiffer tension feel to them with out feeling tight or hard to fret with. Im happy with my purchase. 4 star rating has to do with potential string breakage. Not sound or feel. That gets a 5 Star

Wow! Love themOk so not an expert review, been playing for only a few weeks. I started out on a low end uke with Fluorocarbon Strings which were bright and twangy, but had limited sustain.I upgraded my uke last week to something a bit nicer and it shipped with the Águila Nylgut strings which sounded a bit “deader” and were quite thick. These reds are wonderful. They are brighter and sustain better than the other 2. They also have a very nice feel and seem to be a smaller gauge. The sound is just night and day. I was on the fence about the Luna I purchased, but these strings made me fall in love. They sound wonderful, feel great, are easier to play than the Nylguts. They also look great and contrast with my uke beautifully.I bought the low G String version of the reds. It’s true that the G is wound and plated/painted true red. The other strings are more of a brick color. I don’t mind at all. The strings fit my nut without any modification. They need time to stretch. I have had to tune every 5-10 mins or so of playing for the last hour. They needed to stretch a lot it seems, but they are now to the point of very minor adjustments. I suspect they will stay in tune quite well after a bit more break in.I love these. They are perfect and really just make me excited to play my uke!

Aquila Red strings have a bad reputation on the internet for breaking easily. That may have been true of early batches of these strings, but they have been on the market for many years now and I'm sure Aquila has been improving their formulation to remedy that problem. The set that I bought is stamped with a manufacturing date of a couple of months before I bought it.I installed them on my concert ukulele with no problems. I kept the strings tight when installing and brought them up to tension carefully. They stretched a lot during the first couple of days, but were pretty stable after that. Sound quality is great - louder and brighter than the fluorocarbons I was using before without a noticeable loss of sustain. The low G set has a wire-wound G string that is painted a brighter red than the other 3 strings. I usually don't care much about aesthetics, especially of strings, but these look kind of cool on my ukulele that has a reddish solid cedar top.

Alright guys so I have had some time to really test out these strings on my Kala Concert Ukulele. Upon purchasing I did not realize that these strings were with the Low G tuning, which was different from my Concert standard tuning. Well I strung these bad boys up and was pleasantly surprised at the tone my ukulele gained. The sound was significantly better than the original strings and the Low G made the experience far better. Anyone with a standard tune Concert Ukulele, I would suggest giving it a try. These strings feel so much better under finger, I do not know how this is possible, but they truly feel better while playing. They slide so well and with a great tone as you slide from one fret to the next. They have a great sustain for crisp clear hammer ons. The color goes well with all Ukuleles as my room mate and my self have 6 ukuleles between the two of us and they are all strung up with Aquila strings. The color however seems to rub off and fade with playing, I feel this is to be expected.Play on my friends and get Aquila's ASAP. Get those stock strings off if you are still playing them.
