Bought this two pack of drums for my HL-2270D printer, on which I had run the drum down to 0%. The drums came well packed, and appear to be indistinguishable from OEM (other than price). The new drum installed easily and I see no difference in print quality. Longevity remains to be seen, but it will take me years to know if the drum will reach anywhere near the advertised 12,000 pages.Note for HL-2270 printer owners: the instructions that come with these drums are generic and don't apply to the HL-2270D, since it has no LCD panel. To reset the printer drum counter, follow these steps:1. Install the new drum.2. With the access door still open, press and hold the "Go" button for several seconds, until all four of the LEDs on the top of the printer light up.3. Close the door. Wait for the printer to go through its warm-up cycle.4. To confirm the counter is reset, press and release the "Go" button three times in rapid succession. This will cause the printer to print out a set of status pages, one of which will show the drum page counter.

I was sent this drum kit for review. It arrived well packaged in an appropriately sized box.The cardboard package for the DR420 2-pack was also well made and of good quality. Each DR420 drum was individually shrink-wrapped, and the actual roller units were wrapped in paper for extra protection. The drum units were held in place by two foam endcaps, which prevented any damage to the drum units. Additionally, the drum came with an instruction sheet which with easy-to-follow directions. After removing the old drum unit and toner cartridge, the toner cartridge was fit into the new drum. The toner cartridge fit securely into the new drum without any difficulty. The new drum with the toner cartridge was sent fit into the Brother printer. There were no problems with the fit and the printer, drum, and toner cartridge all worked perfectly.A test print was made prior to installing the new drum and again after the new drum was installed. There was a noticeable difference between the print using the old and new drums. This difference was found primarily in the Radial Gradient test and the overall blackness. The results of the Radial Gradient test with the new drum were superior to the old drum in that the gradient was smoother and more even. The test print made using the old drum resulted in darker blacks with darker gray tones, whereas the print from the new drum had superior gray scale reproduction. With a superior gray scale reproduction, the Ankink drum will produce better reproductions of B&W Photos. Finally, with regard to text, the old drum printed text that was both slightly darker as well as thicker (almost as if a bold version of the font was chosen) than the Ankink drum. I found that the text reproduction with the Ankink drum was easier to read and sharper.Overall, this replacement drum is well-made, works with other after-market toner cartridges, and fits perfectly into the Brother printer on which it was tested. The test prints, all made with using the same paper and existing toner cartridges, showed a marked improvement in printing with better overall tones and gray-scale gradients.

Image quality is not as good as the brother brand with only 20% estimated life remaining.

At different locations, I have two DCP-7065DN printers purchased 10-11 years ago. Neither is heavily used, but each has printed about 10,000 pages and has only about 20% of the estimated life remaining in its original drum unit. According to Brother, drum life can vary depending on various factors, so the remaining life might be less. Since this Ankink product is a convenient and economical 2-pack, I decided to be proactive and replace both drums now. I am happy to say that the Ankink DR420 drums were compatible with both printers and have worked fine so far.Note that the printer doesn't automatically "know" that you've replaced the drum. But the Ankink drum box contains a convenient instruction sheet that tell you how to inform the printer, so it can maintain the page count (and wear) correctly for the new drum. The procedure is different for each of the different drums and printers listed on the instruction sheet, and for my DCP-7065DNs it was very simple indeed. The outside of my drums' product box says "Updated Drum Unit". Updated compared to what, I don't know. But as I said, it worked fine.I didn't see it on the product page, but the product box says Ankink provides a 2-year warranty against product defects, and they list an email address and a livechat URL for help.Five stars

I use a Brother MFC-7860DW printer/scanner. Great unit...reliable, and good quality output. However, I have noticed the quality going down a bit recently. Coincidentally, it has been time to replace the drum unit on it for a couple of months, but I have delayed doing so - I wasn't quite sure how complicated do that would be. Still, I ordered a replacement drum from Ankink and set aside an hour to do the procedure. Little did I know that replacing the drum was as simple as pressing a couple of buttons on the Brother, opening the front printer door, pulling off the toner cartridge, sticking it in the new drum unit and then cleaning a wire on the drum using the plastic cleaning part and then sticking the drum in the Brother and the job is done. The Ankink drum unit was a perfect fit for the printer and I couldn't be any happier to see that the print quality is once again excellent. This is a great third-party drum replacement.

It's too soon to tell what the longevity will be on this drum kit, but initial examination is promising. Compared to the manufacturer drum, this one is hugely more affordable (about 1/3 the cost). It's a great way for me to avoid throwing away my aging but perfectly functional Brother multifunction printer unit.
