The price tricked me into ordering this frame. It comes COMPLETELY unassembled with 30 pieces and NO instructions except a small drawing that I could not follow. Went to item on amazon to see if they had an assembly instruction sheet and just a small drawing. The construction is so cheap. I immediately realized it was not worth spending two hours putting together and returned it. Do not waste your time

I read the other reviews and still bought it knowing that it would need work, but I have tools and know how to do these things. The price was low enough that it seemed better than starting from scratch to build something. I just laughed as I unpacked the cheesy pieces from the cheesy little box.One upright support, in the picture, looked like this, LOL!It was unusable. I found a piece on 1x2 to use to replace it. It was a little thicker than the uprights that came with the stand, so the bolt that goes through, with no extra length to spare, no longer worked. We managed to find another bolt which was slightly larger, so I had to redrill the holes to accommodate it. We will have to get some longer bolts, so there is room for washers in between the pieces the embroidery frame pivots on because as it is, turning the frame unscrews the bolts from the wingnuts that hold them.So I got it together, and then it needed cross bracing to make it sturdy, so I salvaged a piece from an old door frame and cut two pieces to screw onto the bottom footing pieces for both bracing and weight. Now it is a nice piece or will be when I get those longer bolts and washers. I do like the size of it very much.Don't buy it if you can't rehab it.

The scroll frame is nearly unusable. The long white fabric clamps are too large and do nothing to prevent even very heavy fabric from moving; I had to use tape. Furthermore, the long bolts sticking out both ends of the scroll-dowels came out, and wood glue only fixed one of the two cases where that happened. I would have figured out how to work around the other problems if the provided scroll frame was any good on its own, but instead this is the fatal flaw.The board to hold up the pattern arrived already broken. I initially figured shipping error and glued it back together. After some moderate handling, however, the board splintered in a different place.The wood is so soft that screwing everything in firmly enough to keep it steady left permanent dents (see attached picture). This could have been fixed by including washers of an appropriate size.Multiple other reviews have suggested adding a crossbar for stability, but you'd need access to a saw and a drill, a relevantly sized thick dowel or piece of lumber, and appropriately sized screws. I live in an apartment and do not have any of these things, and as such nothing I can realistically do will make it any better.

Very cheaply made not sturdy at all. You have to be careful because it’s not cleaned up so you get splinters very easily. The pictures are deceiving it is not very tall at all more of a table top fixture than a floor fixture. It’s too small for a floor fixture.

For the positives, it is made of solid wood. No particle board anywhere in sight. It is also easy to assemble. With the few tweaks I made to it, it works perfectly, and is a quality piece.For the negatives, it needs some tweaking to be a great piece. The metal threading on the crossbars comes loose and needs to be re-glued. I used JB Weld on mine for some real staying power. It also needs a second cross bar on the legs for extra stability. I added one, as you can see in the pic. Pretty easy to do if you know how to use a drill and handsaw, which I do. The snap on pieces to hold the cloth are also pretty useless if you have a long piece (too thick to fit) or a short one (not thick enough). I just use tape and wind it around the bar, it works great that way. To keep the bars tight, you will also need some rubber washers, see pic above for clarification. With this, the bars will remained tightened, and keep your work tightened for sewing, no need for those funky clips at all. One other negative, when I received mine, one of the frame arms was a bit warped, though it wasn't bad enough to force me to return mine.This all said, with these tweaks to the piece, it is a great embroidery frame.I also got mine on sale, so I'm perfectly happy with my purchase. I don't think I would be if I had paid full price though. Despite the solid wood construction, it is not made with care, nor is the design well thought out as it is.So if you can buy it on sale, and have the skills needed to tweak it as it needs, go ahead and buy it. If not, you may want to look elsewhere. Hope this helps.
