This compact survival whistle was specially developed to locate boaters who’ve fallen overboard, but it can also aid in land rescues. The WW-3 Res-Q issues a shrill dual tone up to 100 decibels, which is audible over great distances. The unique, flat design of this whistle keeps it from holding water, and its 31.5 inch (80 cm) lanyard easily attaches to life jackets, rafts, and other weather gear. And, to top it all of, this rescue whistle was built to meet USCG requirements.

Neon colors can be very useful or even life saving in survival situations, do I really have to repeat that?I understand the problem with screens and accuracy of photos. My computer screen is professional level and calibrated correctly. That being said, i've about had it with receiving merchandise ordered online that looks almost nothing like what I bought. There's a certain standard of trust that needs to be present for online shopping to work or for there to even be a transaction in the first place. If I could find the items I buy online in physical stores, I would buy them in person. It seems like 3/4 of all I've ever bought online I've had to return because there is no standard followed or calibration tool implemented for product images. The customer shouldn't have to worry they're not getting what they paid for every time they buy, and on the subject of shipping, it's always Russian roulette- (will the seller or warehouse actually use any packing materials or just lob the item into a plastic bag and blame the incompetence on shipping and handlers)? As far the other aspects of the whistle- it does have a nice compact and flat design but the casting has a number of rough edges and surfaces- looks as though quality is as cheap as the brand thinks will fly with people these days or they are hoping no one notices. Not sure about durability.I sent a message to the seller, and this was their curt, indifferent and discourteous response: "(J.M.), we do not upload the pictures. These are given to Amazon from ACR. We have sold thousands of these and never had any question it. Sorry"

The good: Tiny, lightweight, flat, requires very little air to blow, and quite loud. The whistle is the size of a matchbook and could easily disappear behind a badge, compass, or ride easily along with dog tags. It sounds remarkably like a household smoke detector, but a bit louder. There is a fair amount of back pressure, but requires very little air flow to make it sing. The bad: The narrow passages could easily be clogged with ice or mud.The lowdown - It's tiny form, low wind requirements, and strident smoke alarm sound make it ideal survival whistle for urban use, or as part of an Altoids survival kit. Mine resides in a travel first aid kit.

Cheap and effective. While I would want a beefier sound if I was in a high traffic water way, for most every other thing this likely will fit the ticket.Sharp and Loud, even with minimal effort. It carries enough to be heard through walls and multiple doors.Good for saving your voice short bursts in a lost/emergency or if u need to wrangle a bunch of loud kids.did I also mention it was cheap in price?

I buy these for myself, my family and friends. It's simply the best whistle for outdoor emergency use and I have at least one with me all the time. The flat form is good for in-pocket, in bag, or wearing with the lanyard even under the shirt. The sound is loud and shrill. It's weather resistant, meaning it works even when soaked. I know I can count on this whistle when I need it.

This whistle has a small profile (it's flat), so it's easy to wear it on your body. It would fit into any small pocket. There are no moving parts inside, so it should work in extreme conditions, although I have not tried it in cold weather yet. While it's made of plastic, it's not easily breakable (even if you step on it), but not completely indestructible. Quite loud. The only downside I found so far is that one has to blow reasonably hard to make this whistle sound, so it may not be the best option if you are looking for an emergency whistle for your kids.

I got this whistle to go with my kayak as a signaling device ( trying to keep things cheap ) and I am very pleased ; it's flat so it doesn't take too much space ,very light , it will never corrode , easy to find and above all it is LOUD , you have to try it to believe it , just the thing when you need to call attention to yourself in an emergency situation and for a few bucks you get a very good deal .

This little whistle is terrific! It's hard to misplace as it is so brightly colored and is easy to wear under clothing as it is flat in design. If you are lost while hiking and are trying to attract the attention of others searching for you, this whistle will do it! And heaven help the mugger who gets this whistle blown in his ear! This would also be a great safety device for senior citizens living alone as it is so loud it can be heard outside through the walls of the house.SIX YEARS LATER: The whistle and cord still look and work like new despite even being worn in a swimming pool! I have recently found another great use for it. I have a rather naughty six month old kitten who was intent upon shredding all fabric-related things in my house. I had tried scolding and squirting her with water from .a squirt gun but she remained determined until I thought of using VERY SHORT bursts of sound from this deafening whistle. I have been wearing it around my neck for a few days and there is no more undesirable behavior! Amazing! I have caught her checking with me when she thinks about trying some new stunt to see if I am going to blow the whistle. All I have to do is touch the whistle with my hand and she finds something else to do. No more cat on the counter or table. No more being used as a chew toy or scratching post. It's great!

I wore this whistle on a chain around my neck more or less daily for about 4 months. Even though the whistle was not subjected to any known mechanical stress, it separated at the joint between the whistle proper and the point of attachment of the lanyard. It appears to me that body heat may have degraded the glue. I find this performance less than satisfactory and do not recommend the product.
