Nice metal gear. Worked well for replacing original gear with broken teeth in my lawn tractor. Happy with purchase.

Drop in is a bit misleading as there are some contortions to replacing this in a fully assembled tractor. However, it fit and worked perfectly. Probably 45 minutes. PSA- if you think there is a piece of metal in your way, stop the tractor and get off instead of staring at it and hitting the fence.

I installed this on a 4 year old Cub Cadet ST1 LT50, 50” fabricated (welded) deck. Although, this part has many applications to numerous riding lawn mower models. No trouble on install after watching DIY video. Main thing is you must not remove the tie rod ends from the broken steering gear you’re replacing, only disconnect from the wheels. And you must reinstall the tie rod ends to this new steering gear before trying to install it. The reason you need the tie rod ends connected to the old steering gear is to maneuver it out and later the tie rods need to be attached to the new steering gear to maneuver it back in to place. Works as good as new.
