This compass also can be used as a divider for those who do Typography, I checked and the points close all the way, it’s not cheap. Also has a good quality of when you open it or close it doesn’t move on its own. The package was wrapped with a lot of care, and the product was in excellent condition. Highly recommend! The sharpness is pretty sharp, size I purposely wanted it big, and the use is exactly how I imagined. The weight is a standard weight for something if good material.

I wanted a simple nice wood working compass with no complications (example: removable points that don't fit). That's not what I got. What I got was an absolutely great compass, simple to use, pencil fits perfect (sounds stupid, but you wouldn't believe what's out there), the points are stainless so they are strong and permanently secured, wing adjustment is stiff yet easy to open. Just a great compass and divider. Really pleased.

My dad has been an architect for 50 years and has never had a tool he's loved as much as this. It is both beautiful and perfectly precise. If you have someone that could use a compass and also enjoys high quality products, trust me and get this.

Dividers came very well packaged. Polished to a beautiful luster. Dividers are made very sturdy. Holds accuracy well without slippage. I think this set will last my lifetime, and I will be passing it on to my son. Thank you for the quality product like we used to make and take pride in. You can't go wrong buying this product, if you are looking for quality.

I don’t normally leave reviews unless something is very outstanding, which this instrument is. This compass combination divider is made with high-quality and functions perfectly. I use it for measurements, larger arcs and circles, and in my drafting and drawing hobby. The wooden box is made of really beautiful nicely stained and oiled hardwood with a brass inlayed anchor. The lining of the box is also excellent. I read some reviews where people indicated that the compass/dividers do not fit in the box without disassembly. This is not true. I’m not sure it shows in the photographs but the box is not a perfect rectangle it is slightly narrower on one end and the other. If you put the instrument in the correct way it fits perfectly without disassembly and including the attached pencil. I love how this is a two and one tool. Don’t buy the cheap compass and divider sets you see on other sites, with cheap plastic hinges and without a locking device for the dividers. This one is worth every penny I paid for it.

This review is for the 8" brass compass. Rarely do I leave reviews here or elsewhere. Usually they would be a negative review for a misrepresented or just plain poor item. This time is an exception. This 5MoonSun5 brass compass is very nice. It feels well built, looks good and works as expected. A standard sized pencil fits in its holder and tightens. The knob to open/close it does its job well too. Unlike some other reviews it fits in its good looking, well made box just fine. It is more expensive than others but well worth the extra. It should last a very long time.

The dividers are sturdy and well crafted. The brass is well polished and smooth. The hinge is snug so that the divider legs remain open even without using the locking screw. I was able to draw 10 inch diameter circles with the legs fully open. The box appears to be made out of rosewood. It opens and closes well. The craftsmanship of the box is not refined, typical of handcrafted boxes from India, but that lends some charm to it. The brass clasps, though, are cheaply made and installed. They lock fine, just seem cheap for such a nice box. All in all, this is a great product and I'm happy to have purchased it.

This compass is very well built. The stainless to brass joinery is substantial and well done, as is all aspects of the construction. The polishing of the brass is adequate but not excellent; more specifically there are many fine scratches that seem to have occurred after polishing. That said it will polish up well and as it is such good quality should be polished from time to time anyway.The box was also good quality overall. It appears to be made from rosewood or some similar looking hardwood, and there is no plywood in its construction. It is surprisingly well finished too. This quality stands in stark contrast to the box's hasps, which are brass but thin and cheap (albeit functional). The is also not wide enough to hold the assembled compass. For the compass to fit into the box the nut has to be removed and the slotting wing disengaged.Despite the shortcomings this is the best quality wing compass I have seen, and I was a professional woodworker and tool enthusiast for 30 years.
