as stated by others the tool holder is a left-hand holder. you will need to run the spindle in reverse during the grooving operation. that being the case it was not worth testing any further.

The product listed: Lathe Internal Cutting Tool MGIVR2016-1.5 Boring BarThe product received: Lathe Internal Cutting Tool MGIVl2016-1.5 Boring BarThe R is a Right hand tool. So lathe in forward, cutter edge facing operatorThe L is a Left hand tool. So lathe needs to run reverse, and cutter facing away from operator. That letter is very important. On many machines this is just an operational change. Run the lathe in reverse and feed the tool forward like you would for a parting blade. However, not all lathes can do this operation. In my case, my lathe can run in reverse, but it has a threaded spindle. So unless I secure it, it will unwind the chuck and make a right mess if not a dangerous one. Bottom line, I cannot use this tool because the wrong one was supplied, but the right one was listed.
