I run a commercial CNC system to make custom wooden signs and produce parts for cabinetry projects, but I had never used a bit like this one ... a 5-degree, 1/16"-ball-tip with a solid carbide cutter. Bottom line: It does an excellent job of detail carving. One caution: Make sure that the narrowest part of your carve is at least 1/16" wide, or you'll get uneven-depth results -- albeit extremely well cut.

This most definitely 5-star ball nose router bit is really enjoyable and fun to use for making freehand designs. This 5.4-degree router bit is a great tool for unleashing your creativity! The bit is sharp and cuts smoothly. It spins without vibration. This router bit fits my router perfectly and without any issues. Highly recommend this 10-star ball nose router bit.

Perfect for detailed work. Works perfectly in cnc carving as well as cutting. Fine point allows you to make detailed cuts in hard and soft wood. Have only used it in wood but should work in soft metals if you use cooling and take it slow.If I only was only allowed to have one bit.. this would be the one. Definitely recommend 👌

Used this in my CNC router after completing roughing passes with a 1/4 spiral upcut workhorse. Nice and sharp with good detail.

First off, the "warranty void if seal is broken" tag must be broken to open the product. It has a picture of a seal, so I'm hoping it's just a tongue-in-cheek joke and not serious.Sweet spot is somewhere in between .125" and .006". The .125" setting had a bit of fuzz on top of cut (as expected from upcut bits) but it wanted to grab a little bit, which made keeping steady a bit difficult in a Shaper Origin.

This ballnose bit (E1401) from Zahyox is a great bit for detailed carvings when using a CNC. It has a 1/32" radiused tip, 1/4" Shank and 3" overall length. It leaves a great finish and can get into tight areas.Zahyox has tool databases available for common software such as Fusion 360, Vectric, Carbide Create and Carveco Maker which is really nice. I found the 40% stepover for this bit quite high, but otherwise the settings were reasonable.Overall, I would definitely recommend checking this bit out if you use a CNC for 3D carving.

I don't have a CNC, but got this to make angled kerf cuts to bend wood. I intend to make a series of cuts most of the way through a board, use thin contrast veneers about 1/16" (the thickness of the tip) to fil the gaps (I have seen it done with glue and sawdust, depending on the look / edge visibility). Essentially, the angle of the bit closes up to a straight strip the width of the tip when you bend. The angle is on each side, so the included angle is 10.8 degrees, needing 7-9 cuts for a 90 degree bend (depending on how tightly you close the gaps, and if you use filler strips).My test cuts worked best with less than 1/8" depth per pass. This would probably work well as an engraving bit, and may need to do that at some time in the future.
