These work good when you have too many wires for a wire nut. These aren't my first choice but I needed 5-6 wires together for a side run and this is all that would work so I'm happy they got my outlets up and going . I've had these fail in the past or burn up so I was hesitant , I prefer wire nuts when ever possible

Things like this are really handy when back boxes get busy and wire nuts become more and more troublesome to work with.I have a back box with four three-way switches in it and between all the inputs and outputs I have 8 ground wires to join together. Wire nuts big enough to handle that are a pain to work with and take up precious space in an already cluttered back box, but something like this is nice and easy because I can just push one wire into each port and be done with it. No more trying to hold everything in place, screwing a wire nut into place, and then letting go only to find one of the wires falls out - just push them all in and it's done. It's also handy if you want to take one wire out because you can do that without having to undo the wire nut and then fuss with it again.They seem to hold the wire tight enough that it won't fall out easily, but with a bit of twisting and pulling you can get a single wire out.
