About this item

  • Clamping panels doesn't have to be difficult. This clamp system is designed for the sole purpose of clamping panels using pressure from the top, bottom and sides all at the same time!
  • Clamping panels can certainly be a challenge. Especially when we try to use everyday pipe clamps or bar clamps. While these types of clamps work fairly well on certain glue up projects, the one thing they don’t do at all is apply pressure from the top and bottom of the panels during glue up. In fact, with all the pressure being applied on both sides, bar and pipe clamps will almost certainly bow, buckle or rack your panel glue up project.
  • Let’s make racked panel glue ups a thing of the past! The uniquely designed 4 way pressure solves this age old issue by applying pressure to all four sides of your panel glue up. With a simple turn of the rotating clamp handle, all four sides of the clamp will draw inward at the same time. This provides equal pressure on to your panel and prevents bowing, buckling, or racked panels.
  • Build any length clamp with the durable plastic bars with 4 notches for maximum adjustability to handle a variety of stock widths. Clamp can be used for boards up to 6 inches in thickness by simply adjusting the clamp width capacity with the appropriate number of notches. Turn the handle clockwise to tighten the clamp and turn the handle counter clockwise to release pressure. The 4 way pressure clamp is equipped with side pressure pads to prevent damaging your stock.
  • Now you can confidently glue up wide boards, shelving, table tops, and more up to 6” thick. To setup the clamps simply attach the clamp to any length 2 x 2’s (2” x 4” ripped in half) with the the wood screws that are provided, apply wood glue to your project, set the clamps on to your panel boards and turn handle to tighten the clamp on all four sides. We recommend that you place a 4 way pressure clamp every 12” to 18” for best results.
  • This clamp package comes with two full 4 way pressure clamp assemblies. Includes: 2 each rotating handle assemblies, 2 each tailstock assemblies, 4 each side pressure pads and 12 each 4 notch bars. Together, this setup will allow you to create two 4 way pressure clamps. More than one clamp is generally recommended for any project over 12” in length. Wood is required for setting up the clamp. Wood is NOT included.

4 Way Pressure Clamp

clamping pressure from all 4 sides illustrated clearly

Clamping Pressure on ALL 4 SIDES

When clamping panels, the challenge is preventing the middle boards from bowing or popping out of place. There are many clamps and clamping systems that can help reduce this problem or get close to applying pressure where needed. Some of those systems cost a lot of money as well. Our simple, easy to use 4 way pressure clamp system will apply pressure where its needed and it will do it for a fraction of the cost.

use clamps for various size panel glue ups

Clamp Various Size Panels

From small to larger panel glue ups, the 4 Way Pressure Clamp has got you covered.

build the clamp to the length you need

Build it to Your Specs

You can build the 4 Way Pressure Clamp to your specs. Typically the most common lengths are 24", 36" or 48" depending on what style of projects you do most often.

solid steel clamps and full table top clearance handle

Solid Steel

From the steel rotating clamp handle to the steel clamp assemblies, you'll get a ton of mileage out of these durable clamps.

Heavy duty notched bars for holding wood bars

Heavy Duty Notched Bars

Made from a durable composite resin material, the notched bars are perfect for holding the steel clamping assemblies in place for optimal clamping pressure from all 4 sides.

plan your projects for length

Always Plan Ahead...

Before deciding how many clamps you need, use the general rule of thumb and plan for using a clamp at 12" intervals. This helps provide enough clamping pressure throughout your workpiece to prevent bowing of your panels. When deciding what size panel you want to glue up, make sure you have enough 4 way pressure clamps to do the job. We recommend that you set your 4 way pressure clamps at 12” intervals. This helps keep even pressure throughout the panel. The 4 way pressure clamp can also be used in conjunction with pipe or bar clamps to help provide even clamping pressure that pipe or bar clamps typically can not on there own.

These make the greatest clamps ever and the best part is I can make them as long as I want! Super-easy to assemble, and I’m happy to have them!

So much less expensive to DIY. Plus I was able to build custom lengths with some straight scrap oak 2x2s. Made building end grain cutting boards easy.

I had a need for an additional pair and figured I'd give these a shot - been using the Woodcraft/Woodriver versions for years, buying a few when they go on sale. The picture shows the two versions next to each other; aside from the minor differences in the handle (the Woodriver is a little thicker on the knob, Peachtree-DFT needs to clean up their casting flash), the only other difference is the Woodriver has a slightly thicker screw. In practice you can't tell which one you are using, and the plastic cauls are 100% the same other than the logo. Are they better, or worse? Neither - if I had to make a guess, they came off the same line just that my Woodriver clamps are a few years older than the Peachtree offering so maybe if I went to Woodcraft and bought a new set for $15+ each I wouldn't know the difference.

Very well-built. For added straight edge, instead of wood beams suggested, I bought a metal 8' square tube 1-1/2" square for each clamp set of two, cut them in half to make two 4' beams, drilled and threaded for 1/4"-20 x 1" flat head Phillips machine screws. For gluing shorter panels, I used a 10" piece of wood (spacer) to reach the clamps bumper pad. This was more expensive than wood (cost of square tube and screws) and heavier, but gives a much straighter edge to hold the wood panels being glued together. It also doesn't stick to the glue and won't warp over time which wood beams would do. Very good product, strong, and offers unlimited options for length. Much less costly than fixed length ones.

I'll confess, I haven't actually clamped anything with these yet, and will update my review when I do. For now, here are my impressions:First, the instructions are some of the worst I've seen. Right up there with your typical Harbor Freight book. They don't give you any guidance on how to adjust these for the width of your glue-up. Nothing at all. But that would be forgivable if the instructions weren't just plain WRONG. I should have paid more attention to the photos in the product description, user reviews, or even right on the box, because the instructions tell you to put the screw-clamp portion on the wrong end of this thing. It tells you to put it on the long end, but that severely limits your width options. So make sure the screw part goes on the short bar side.I followed the advice of the person who used unistrut (called Superstrut at my local HD). I was able to find 2' lengths at one of the stores around me (not everywhere and they had to go search for them as they weren't on the shelves). I used four of those, along with 5 packets of 5 superstrut washers and 6 packets of 1/4"-20x1-1/2" flat head machine screws. This gives me a tremendous amount of flexibility to move the bars around for different widths.I have mine set up for the minimum potential width (the notch bars are right next to each other), and I have a clamping capacity of roughly ~6.5-21.5". That's awesome. And I measure 4 inches behind the long notch bar so I can go up to ~25".If I were doing a table top, I'd probably get another set of these, and just get longer superstrut bars.Anyway, good early impressions, and I'm looking forward to my next glue-up. I'll update my review after that.In summary:-make sure the screw clamp goes on the short bar end-superstrut makes for fantastic adjustable cauls-the minimum caul length of any material will be 20"-at minimum lengths, you'll get glue-up capacity of roughly 6.5-22"
