I've used the kit several times already in the short amount of time that I've had it. The bits and taps work perfectly, along with the rest of the kit. Easy way to repair stripped threads. I've used them in steel and aluminum without issue.

15+ years experience in maintenanceDo not but for anything other than 1 time use!It doesn't come with the tool needed for the tap, the tools used to insert and break off the Tang or a very poor quality and I could only use for two inserts.I was very concerned using the tap with the quality of it and anything more than aluminum. I could watch it twist as it was trying to cut new threads, the last thing you want to do is break off a tap while you're trying to rethread something.I would recommend just buying from a really quality Source like OTC unless you're just in need of a variety for some very soft metals like chineseium or aluminum

This is a nice set of thread repair tools but it would have been nice to have a tap handle to make things easier. Has everything I could need.

There are few things more disheartening than when you're tightening a bolt to only feel it starting to get loose. You blew out the threads in some part and you're left wondering how you're going to fix it. Do you replace the mounting part (is it even possible), do you leave that bolt out, do you try jamming something in the hole to cause tension, or do you use a helicoil and fix it?Use is simple: drill out the old threads, tap for the threaded coil insert, thread it in until surface is flush, break off installation tab, and you're ready to try tightening that bolt again. The drill bits, taps, etc are provided; you just need a hand drill and a tool to turn the tap.Helicoils are a relatively inexpensive solution to blown out threads. Can save you time and money when compared to having to order an expensive part that has the threads and wait for it to arrive.Word of caution is to make sure you don't go too far since you will not be able to back this thing out after you thread it in. You can only go deeper but can't back out.
