These are quality petri dishes that can be used in a pressure cooker to sterilized multiple times. I wouldn't go over 15psi for very long though. I leave the lids cracked just a half turn no problems after more than 10 uses.

Great dishes, not as clear as the polycarbonate autoclavable ones but still easy to see inside of. I missed in the description that they do not come sterile and learned that the hard way. This is why you should quarantine dishes for a couple days after pouring to insure sterility.I assume these will be more durable than the polycarbonate ones and seem to not scratch too easily from a brush etc.

Very clear and people complaining about the gap must’ve never heard of parafilm

These are the only pp5 Petri dishes I can find and are worth getting over the single-use plates. There are 2 issues that I have with them though, they don't come pre-sterilized and the lid is a bit large for the bottom.

This review is for the 75mm plates. These are the best plates I've used. I used a different seller's polypropylene plates and the ridges on the lids were so I high I could not slide the top plate off to wrap after pouring agar. These have a slight ridge on the top to enable stacking, but you can still nudge a plate off to the side for wrapping. Also, the plastic seems a tad stickier for my grafting tape or maybe it's just the smaller size of that plates that makes them way easier to wrap than my other 100mm plates. Not sure how many times I will be able to pressure cook these but can confirm they survived 30m in the PC without issue.

Difficulty to handle and seal due to oversized lids. Plastic is harder to see through than I’d expect, but better than other polypropylene I’ve used. Slightly overpriced due to these issues but they will be sufficient for hobbyist use.

I bought 24 dishes (2x12) and 4 of the dishes had a black residue, mold, or soot present within the individually sealed plastic bags. Wasn't particularly easy to clean off.I realize they weren't pre-sterilized, and I didn't expect them to be. I just wasn't expecting them to be dirty or previously used.Otherwise, they held up well for sterilization and made great agar plates.

for those who actually have experience with petri dishes and trying to get away from single use plates these are the right ones. you can see through pretty good for a PP5 plate. they are not vented. not packed sterile. - little smaller then your standard plate (also stated in description). i have looked and looked for a plate like this. been use screw top Bead containers. which is probably what these bad reviews wanted/needed.all the bad reviews, i don’t get it. maybe you didn’t read the description correctly. some of you even stated you work with petri dishes. if you did you would know the characteristics between PP5, non PP5, glass, vented and non vented plates. if you read it states “not sterilized” why would they? even if they did i would still sterilize before using.maybe what you wanted was the single use plates. still single use don’t fit snug, you use para film to seal. plus they are much cheaper.i could go on and on about the unwarranted complaints. it’s all right there in the description. you should take your bad reviews down.

I purchased these for a craft project (xmas presents for my lab mates). I needed smaller than average, clear plates. These fit the size bill and, from the listing photos, appeared to meet my needs for appearance, as well. Quick shipping got these to me in 2 days which I needed a week from Xmas. HOWEVER. Other than the size, these screwed me over. Do NOT trust the stock photos. Those do NOT represent the plates being sold in this listing. Unlike the hard, clear plastic of the dishes I'm use to in the lab, these are a softer plastic which means it lends itself to cloudiness. I mean, seriously, these things are almost white. If these were a book, they would be "The Fog" by Stephen King. You can see a little, like if there a dark blob inside, you would be able to tell, but any detail beyond that or any lighter colors would be hard to decipher through the hurricane of murky white dish. I added a photo to show a comparison between my glasses and the plate. Now assuming my glasses are clear, that is the difference between the plastic lenses and the plastic plate received. This is my biggest peeve of these plates as my project had to be altered (again) due to this not as describe product. I really hate misleading sellers. Makes it not worth the money when you need something. From reading the reviews before I bought these, I know some people mentioned the gap between the lid and plate. I tried to take a photo of that. There is some play there and they are tight in the least. If you lift by the lid, the bottom falls right out. It will even moved around the bottom if you circle it while closed. So, in a nutshell, not tight fit at all. I also added a photo with a quarter on the plate for size comparison for those who aren't great at thinking about size these really are.TL;DR If you really want these for a lab project, I'd pass like a hot potato; they will only bring you heartache and infection. If you want them for sprouting plants or such, they would work great unless you want to put the top on for seeds and get light through; can't guarantee that will happen, but maybe they grow best on cloudy days? Craft projects work good as long you don't plan to close it up; you will do hard work inside only to be unable to see it when the plate close up. Don't buy these small Stargates which will transport you work away to another dimension until you call it back. Very disappointed.

my agar dishes are to small to catch a seal, either the lid is way to large, or the dish portion is to small, mold for dishes needs modification.have not figured yet how to insert pics

I have autoclave and reused mine at least a dozen times since I got these. They work great but they are not as transparent as the pictures show and it's extremely difficult to get parafilm tape off of these as if the tape has somehow form a molecular bond to that plastic. But considering the money saved and less plastic in the landfill, they are definitely worth purchasing.
