Our old hose would make a god awful noise when we would turn the fireplace on high. Once we installed this it works perfect and quite.

This worked surprisingly well to eliminate the whistle. One thing to note is the hose is a bit shorter than 12". It could be stretched but expanding the compressed corrugation ridges would turn it back into a regular flex hose and it would likely whistle like a regular flex hose. If you really need 12", get the 18" version. I was actually happy with it being slightly shorter, as 12" was really a couple inches too long.
